A hard fought grand final at the Blackwood Golf Club saw Willunga being too strong for our team, but not without a scare!!

Tom Hancock, Dean Towill and Moth Eaton fought hard against some very skilled oppoenents to go down before the 15th hole. Roger Lewis won his match 3/2 in fine style at no.6 and it then went down to our final three matches. With Barrie Bahnert one up going down on the 18th, and Peter Bond at no.2 square after the 16th, it was a monster putt on the 17th from the Willunga no.5 to defeat Andrew Hall 2.1. If that putt had not dropped from about 20m (the putt will get longer the more we mention it in future years) we were certainly in a position to put pressure on the final three matches, but unfortunately it wasn’t meant to be. Willunga were the top side all year and the deserved winners.

Once again we have fallen agonisingly short with two grand final losses in the past three seasons.

Thanks to Bruce Huxtable, Ron Smith, Kevin Edwards and Chris Marsden who came out to support or caddie.

It was a pleasure to captain a great bunch of blokes once again this year and I look forwards to another crack in 2025. Onwards and upwards!!
